The team has been dedicated to extensive research on the theory and application of digital-intelligent integration. Team members have led three projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation, two projects sponsored by the Natural Science Foundation of Hubei Province, and more than thirty projects from the Innovation Fund of PetroChina, along with other horizontal research projects.

The team has published over one hundred academic papers in renowned domestic and international journals, including Smart Materials and Structures, Remote sensing, IEEE Internet of Things Journal, and IET Image Processing. Additionally, they have authored two monographs, obtained more than twenty patents, and been awarded two Third-Class Prizes for Scientific and Technological Progress by Hubei Province.

The team has undertaken research initiatives in artificial intelligence, image processing, signal processing, data mining, big data analysis, and three-dimensional modeling. These research endeavors span various domains, including smart oilfields, smart agriculture, smart transportation, smart healthcare, and smart finance. In the context of smart oilfields, the team's research focuses on key technologies such as the prediction of middle-deep reservoirs, three-dimensional geological modeling integrating well-log and seismic data, real-time monitoring of intelligent well sites, intelligent geological steering during drilling operations, and intelligent prediction of formation pressure. A number of the team's research outcomes have been successfully applied in practical settings, yielding excellent results in oilfield operations, power systems, agricultural production, urban communities, and medical services.
