The National Demonstration Center for Experimental Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Yangtze University shoulders the responsibility of experimental teaching in electrical and electronic engineering for the university's petroleum and natural gas disciplines, as well as related science and engineering disciplines. The center currently has 42 full-time and part-time faculty members, among whom 12 hold full professorships and 12 hold associate professorships, with senior - level faculty accounting for 57.1% of the total. Moreover, 22 faculty members have obtained doctoral degrees, and 2 are Ph.D. candidates, representing 52.3% of the total. Faculty with master's degrees account for 40.4%, thereby forming an experimental teaching faculty team characterized by both professional competence and moral integrity, a reasonable structure, seamless integration of theory and practice, as well as the convergence of petroleum and electronics.
The center spans an area of 4,223 square meters, encompassing both basic laboratories such as the Electronic Technology Laboratory, EDA Laboratory, and Electrical Technology Laboratory, and specialized laboratories with distinct petroleum industry features, including the Sercel Geophysical Instrument and Seismic Signal Processing Laboratory, Petroleum Instrument Laboratory, Process Control Laboratory, and Electrical and Energy Laboratory. The total asset value of the center's equipment amounts to 27.63 million yuan, with 4,088 sets of instruments and equipment, greatly improving the experimental conditions and environment. Catering to 17 undergraduate majors of the university, the center offers 42 experimental courses with 220 experimental projects, serving over 3,000 students annually. The average annual teaching workload reaches 110,000 student - hours, ensuring wide professional coverage and benefiting a large number of students.
The center's faculty members actively engage in teaching research and reform, undertaking more than 30 teaching research and quality engineering projects at or above the provincial - ministerial level. This includes one of the first "New Engineering" research and practice projects of the Ministry of Education, 17 Industry - University Cooperative Education projects of the Ministry of Education, and 10 university - level teaching research projects. They have published 61 teaching research papers and authored 26 textbooks and monographs. Additionally, they have established one national - level teaching team, won 3 Hubei Provincial Higher Education Teaching Achievement Awards, developed 4 provincial - level high - quality courses, built 2 provincial - level brand majors, and been approved for one project under the Hubei Provincial Emerging Pillar Industry Talent Cultivation Plan and one project under the "JingChu Excellent Talent" Collaborative Education Plan for General Undergraduate Universities in Hubei Province. Two innovative experimental projects have been included inElectrical and Electronic Innovation Experiments, a book edited by the Electronic Discipline Group of the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center Alliance and published by Higher Education Press, for national promotion. Four achievements have been selected for the collection of construction achievements in electrical and electronic experimental teaching compiled by the same group.
The center's reform and construction efforts have continuously enhanced the quality of talent cultivation. In line with the university's talent cultivation orientation, the center's faculty adhere to the practical education concept of "incorporating ideological and political education, strengthening electronic engineering fundamentals, and highlighting petroleum characteristics" during the teaching process, effectively strengthening the cultivation of students' basic skills, engineering capabilities, comprehensive qualities, and innovation and entrepreneurship awareness. In the past three years, students have undertaken 26 national - level undergraduate innovation projects and won 495 awards in national - level and above disciplinary competitions. Notably, in 2024, the projectIdentification and Regulation Optimization of Advantageous Channeling Paths for CO₂Flooding and Storage in Shale Reservoirs, guided by the center, won the Special Prize in the "Challenge Cup" "List - Unveiling and Task - Taking" Special Track. In the 14th "Challenge Cup" Qin Chuangyuan China University Student Business Plan Competition,PipeGuardian - Intelligent Variable - Diameter Oil and Gas Pipeline Cleaning and Detection Robotwon the Gold Prize, whileDeep - Well Carbon Sequestration - Tackling the Bottleneck Technologies of CO₂SequestrationandIntelligent Oil Well Monitoring Pioneerwon the Silver Prizes. These awards fully reflect the effectiveness of the integration of petroleum and electronics. On this basis, graduates guided by the center either pursue further studies at domestic "Double First - Class" universities or contribute to the development of the national energy cause in the petroleum industry.
